Create a shelter combining sustainable and locally sourced materials on a beautiful and untouched part of a beachfront, then add some delightful cuisine.. And voila you get Barbouni beach restaurant.
Okay so it’s not as easy as that.
Barbouni is a beach restaurant part of the Navarino Dunes Hotel in Messinia, Greece and designed to be in perfect harmony with its environment. In fact its philosophy is driven by a genuine desire to promote Messinia, while protecting and preserving its natural beauty and heritage.
K-Studio has managed to combine the environment and man-made structure so delicately into the landscape that you can’t help but admire how well it integrates into the area. The timber structure is slightly elevated above the sand on wooden columns and the simplicity of the structure allows for views out onto the ocean. The constantly moving wave-like fabric allows the wind to flow through cooling the space.
While I sit here wrapped in two blankets listening to the sound of rain outside I can just picture myself sitting on that deck feeling the breeze through my hair sipping on a cooling grappa and chowing down on freshly grilled seafood.. hmm … google.. ‘cheap–flights–to–Greece’..
