Showcased during Milan Design Week 2013, Japanese Studio YOY have won me over with this little collection of transforming two dimensional hanging installations. The Hanging Canvas Seat.
Part hanging artwork and part furniture they’ve managed to create these optical illusions by utilizing wood and aluminium frames and stretched canvas fabric with screen printed drawings of exclusive furniture.
The seat itself stretches when you put your weight on the canvas comfortably adapting to the sitter.
It’s just one of those jaw dropping cleverly constructed pieces of furniture that you wish you had to wow a guest. “Please feel free to take a seat in my artwork”.
